Freshmen in the MC Learning Community tour GSD&M and Weber-Shandwick Worldwide

Freshmen in the MC Learning Community toured and met with staff at GSD&M and the Austin Office of Weber-Shandwick Worldwide on February 22. At GSD&M students toured each department at the full-service agency and also learned about the creation of the campaign for one of GSD&M’s newest clients Radio Shack. You may have seen the campaign debut during the Super Bowl.

At the Austin Office of Weber-Shandwick Worldwide, students were treated to a nearly three hour tour that included presentations and exclusive access to each of the firms departments and a Q&A panel that included a VP, Group Managers and Account Executives. Students learned invaluable information from media practitioners about everything from preparing for a career in PR,  to pitching to a client, to working with global clients from one of the world’s leading PR firms.  This experience was courtesy of Alumna Rebecca Gough (class of 2005) a Group Manager at Weber-Shandwick.

Learning Community Resident Assistant and Mass Communication Senior, Carlos Hernandez and Learning Community Advisor and Assistant Director of the SJMC, Harry Bowers accompanied the students.
