What brought you to the SJMC at Texas State University?
I started out as a student in the program. I also worked as a student worker for the SJMC. An academic advisor position became when I was graduating so I applied for it and was offered the job.

How long have you been with the SJMC?
All together, I have been with the SJMC for 10 years this coming August.

Awards/recognitions received:
I have received recognition for serving as the 2013 NACADA (National Academic Advising Association) Region 7 Conference Co-Chair, Recognition for serving as the TEXAAN President for 2012-2013.

What are some of your hobbies or things you enjoy doing outside of work?
I enjoy gardening, being outdoors, spending time with family and friends, traveling.

What inspires you?
Being happy.

What do you find most fulfilling or rewarding about teaching college students?
I don’t teach college students but what is fulfilling about working with college students is ultimately seeing them graduate and succeed after college.

Please offer any advice you may have for current SJMC students:
From an advisor’s perspective, my advice is to get to full-major status and admitted to the SJMC as soon as you can. Try to do an internship if you can before you graduate.
